A 34-year-old man was killed by a speeding car in southeast Delhi’s Ashram area on Saturday, August 17. The driver fled the scene after the incident but was reportedly arrested later. Police identified the car through CCTV footage.

The car involved in the hit-and-run case was a Mercedes-Benz. According to reports, police have identified the accused as Pradeep Gautam, a 45-year-old resident of Noida.

The deceased was identified as Rajesh, a gardener by profession and resident of Madanpur Khadar in Delhi. Rajesh originally hails from Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh.

According to reports, the accident occurred at 8:30 am on the Ashram flyover towards Nizamuddin. Police reached the spot after being alerted by a call from a passerby.

According to reports, Rajesh was found in a pool of blood and was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead.

“As I was walking along the overpass, I saw a man’s body surrounded by people and an ambulance, and a few meters away a damaged bicycle,” a passerby on the overpass was quoted as saying in a report.
