Cristiano Ronaldo was furious after Al Nassr were soundly beaten by Al Hilal in the Saudi Super Cup on Saturday. Ronaldo has not won a single domestic trophy in Saudi Arabia since joining Al Nassr and that wait continues as Al Hilal thrashed his side 4-1. After Al-Hilal’s fourth goal, Ronaldo could not hide his disappointment at his teammates and his allegedly obscene gestures on the pitch went viral on social media. Ronaldo could be seen throwing his arms in the air in frustration before showing that the team is asleep – another gesture that has caused quite a bit of controversy.

Before the match, Al Nassr took the lead just before half-time thanks to a goal from Ronaldo. However, Al Hilal staged a sensational comeback, scoring four goals in just 17 minutes to win the match, leaving Ronaldo completely frustrated.

The second half belonged entirely to Al Hilal when Sergej Milinkovic-Savic scored the first goal after a brilliant exchange of passes with Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Eight minutes later, it was Mitrovic who put the ball in the net, heading in a perfect cross from Ruben Neves, completely stunning the Al Nassr goalkeeper.

Things got even worse when Mitrovic doubled his goal after a pinpoint pass from Malcolm and left Al Nassr no chance to prevent the third goal with his powerful shot.

The icing on the cake came in the 72nd minute when Malcolm took advantage of a mistake by Al Nassr goalkeeper Bento and comfortably slotted the goal into the net from close range.

“We showed how good we are in the second half,” said Mitrovic.

“We had a few problems in the first half and then changed in the second half. We stayed calm and it feels good to win a trophy right at the start of the season,” he added.
