Honda CB160R – Will this motorcycle create a new segment? » MotorOctane

The Honda CB300R has taken the design of neo-classic motorcycles for buyers who wanted a motorcycle with classic looks and at the same time good performance. The only problem with this motorcycle was its somewhat high price. The price was justified but the competition was high and the segment it was in did not go down well with many buyers. To address this price issue and make the motorcycle a little more affordable for the people, Honda Motor might launch the CB160R. The motorcycle will have a smaller engine and will also have a lower price.

While the CB300R allows for a very relaxed riding position, the motorcycle has a nice rider triangle that allows the rider to have a stress-free riding position.

The bike has a nominal design and looks like a café bike with upright handlebars.

We expect the Honda CB160R to be similar. The bike will take cues from the CB300R in terms of design. The only changes will be in the engine and specifications. We expect this bike to come with the Honda Hornet engine in India. This will happen once the Hornet engine is launched BS6 compliant. All this means that the CB160R will not be launched as a BS6 compliant bike until much later in the year. Still, this bike is a great choice for riders who want more than just a premium commuter motorcycle but not too sporty.

In terms of design, this motorcycle may have to skimp on the headlights. Instead of a pure LED unit, the vehicle could use a simple halogen lamp. The switchgear and other electrical parts will also be such that they can be used on other Honda motorcycles. The motorcycle could get the same alloy wheels as the CB Hornet 160 and the same tire configuration. This engine feels a bit underpowered with 14 bhp and 14 Nm of torque, but the focus on this motorcycle is on comfort and design.

The vehicle’s suspension is softly tuned and absorbs most bumps and potholes.

All in all, if Honda decides to launch this bike, it will bring a new style to this segment. It could attract a lot of attention. If the price is right, it will even open up new opportunities for other market leaders to launch similar designs. Right now, Honda is focused on making its current lineup BS6 compliant and it will be time before we see a new entrant from Honda.
