Die-hard Trump supporter claims she was banned from wearing a MAGA hat at Citi Field: ‘Discrimination’

A New York Republican and staunch Trump supporter claims she was barred from entering Citi Field until she removed her “Make America Great Again” hat, a decision the organization called a mistake.

Aura Moody and her friend Taisha both wore MAGA hats as they arrived at the Mets game site Wednesday night along with other members of the Queens Village Republican Club.

They had just made it through security when a Citi Field employee told them they were not allowed in wearing their Trump gear, she said.

Audra Moody, 64, claims she was forced to remove her MAGA hat at Citi Field on Wednesday.

“The United States of America is no longer a place of freedom and tolerance. I live under a communist regime where our freedoms are being trampled upon… that was the first thought that came to my mind,” Moody, 64, told The Post of her shock when she was asked to remove her hat.

Moody said she tried several times to invoke her First Amendment rights, but the staffer told her the MAGA cap was “too political” and she had to take it off.

Moody and Taisha – who are both on the board of the Queens Village Republican Club – only agreed to remove their hats because they were afraid of inconveniencing the rest of their group, who were already in their seats, Moody said.

The employee also prohibited them from leaving their hats in their bags, forcing the two women to call the friend they were carpooling with to put the hats back in their car, she claimed.

However, Moody made sure to take a photo of herself in her MAGA gear with Citi Field in the background as “proof” of the incident, she said.

Moody accused the venue of “political discrimination.”

“We are conservative people, we believe in tolerance. If I had worn a BLM, Biden and Harris hate shirt, they would have let me through,” Moody scoffed.

After safely stowing their offensive hats in the car, Moody and her friend finally made it to their seats – only to discover that the other members of their group, who had gone in separately from them, were allowed to keep their MAGA caps on.

“When I entered the venue, I saw at least eight MAGA hats,” she told the Post, adding that she did not see any Kamala Harris or Joe Biden items there.

After the game, Moody tried to file a complaint with several staff members but was turned away. Instead, she was directed to an online complaint form, Moody said.

As of Saturday afternoon, she had not heard from Citi Field, she told the Post.

The Mets attributed the situation to an employee misunderstanding the company’s dress code and said they would apologize to Moody.

“A Mets employee made a mistake in our dress code,” the team said in a statement Saturday. “We are reaching out to Aura Moody to apologize and invite her back to the stadium.”

Wednesday’s incident only strengthened Moody’s support for the Republican Party and Donald Trump, she added.

“I just want the American people to wake up,” she said.

“We are on the brink of communism, a system that confiscates private property, a system that is against meritocracy, a system that indoctrinates people.

“I support President Donald Trump because he is the people’s president. He is the only one who can save the United States of America from destruction from within by the Democrats and the radical left.”

One of Moody’s friends posted a similar message on Facebook next to the photo of her outside Citi Field before the game.

“Guys, I honestly don’t care if you hate Donald Trump. That’s NOT the point!!! Is this the America you want to live in?” the friend wrote.

Moody’s complaints about more liberal policies go back several years: In 2021, she claims, she was fired from her job as a social worker in the New York City school system because she refused to get vaccinated against Covid-19.

More than 900 Department of Education employees were fired by Mayor Eric Adams for refusing to get vaccinated, City Hall announced in 2022.

Citi Field did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment on the allegations.
