Fast Choice fastest in NYSS for $110,100

Quick selection (Courtly choice-Fashion guru Doug McNair) won the $110,100 New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) harness race for two-year-old stallions and geldings on Saturday, August 17.

Silent Weapon (Tyler Buter) stormed out of the gate and reached the quarter distance first in :26.4. Thirsty Thursday (Matt Kakaley) took control in the first turn. Fast Choice ($6.90) shot past on the backstretch and led until the halfway point in :54.0. He stayed in the lead and reached the three-quarter distance first in 1:23.2.

On the home stretch, the two unbeaten pacesetters were on the track. Second-placed Thirsty Thursday gave it his all after Fast Choice. Fast Choice gave it his all while Thirsty Thursday closed in. Fast Choice won with a personal best time of 1:50.3. Holt Hanover (Ray Schnittker) took third.

Fast Choice, a two-year-old gelding trained by Jared Bako for owners Ashley Bako and Randy Zane, has now won four out of four horses.

FAST SELECTION REPEAT

Jimmy Whittemore drove three winning horses and was trainer of two of them. John MacDonald had a double win as driver and trainer.

Awol Hanover (Donato HanoverSteve Reisenweaver) won the Angus MacDonald Memorial Trot. The 10-year-old gelding is owned by Reisenweaver and trained by Jeff Byron.
