Who will Columbus Crew play against in the Leagues Cup semi-finals?
The Crew will face Philadelphia Union in the Leagues Cup semifinals at Lower.com Field on Wednesday, August 21. Kickoff time to be announced.
On Saturday, the Crew advanced to the semifinals with a win over New York City FC in the quarterfinals. After both teams finished regulation time tied 1-1, the match went to a penalty shootout, which Columbus won 4-3. DeJuan Jones, a new signing from the New England Revolution, sealed the result with the final penalty kick.

That’s further than Columbus got in the 2023 Leagues Cup. In the tournament’s inaugural year, the Crew were eliminated in the round of 32 by Minnesota United, 4-3 on penalties.
Philadelphia also advanced on penalties on Saturday when a 1-1 draw at the end of regulation time against Mazatlan FC of Liga MX forced a shootout. The Union, like the Crew, won 4-3 on penalties.
Wednesday’s game will be the first between the Crew and Union this season, even though both teams are in the Eastern Conference. Their regular MLS game is scheduled for Saturday, August 24, but with the winner of Wednesday’s Leagues Cup game playing in the tournament final on Sunday, August 25, Crew coach Wilfried Nancy is hoping the August 24 game will be rescheduled for a later date.
