Here’s who’s speaking at the DNC in Chicago – NBC Chicago

Some big names are expected to take the stage at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago next week, but an official speaker schedule has not yet been released.

What is known is that Minnesota Governor Tim Walz will deliver a speech accepting the party’s nomination for vice president as part of his official address on Wednesday. Vice President Kamala Harris will then speak at the party convention on Thursday evening and accept the party’s presidential nomination.

Aside from those names, we have reports on attendees at the convention and here’s a rundown of who you can expect to see on the DNC stage next week.

President Joe Biden

The White House confirmed that Biden will speak at the convention, just weeks after he withdrew from the presidential campaign for a second term.

He was originally scheduled to deliver a speech to accept the nomination on the last night of the convention, but according to multiple reports, he is now scheduled to address delegates on opening night on Monday.

Former President Barack Obama

Obama is no stranger to the Democratic Convention stage. In 2004, he delivered a keynote speech in Boston that raised his political profile. He also delivered the closing speech at the 2008 convention in Denver, the Broncos’ home stadium, and in 2012.

This time, Obama will give his speech in his hometown of Chicago on Tuesday, the New York Times reported.

Former President Bill Clinton

Clinton will reportedly speak to delegates in Chicago on Wednesday night before Walz’s speech.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton

Clinton, the party’s 2016 presidential nominee, will speak at the convention later this week, according to NBC News. Clinton had sought to become the first woman ever elected president, but will now support Harris’ bid to do so in the 2024 election.

According to several reports, Clinton’s speech is scheduled for Monday.

Governor of Illinois, JB Pritzker

NBC Chicago has confirmed that Pritzker will speak at the convention on Tuesday night, the same evening that Obama will speak.

Pritzker was one of the candidates involved in the selection process for Harris’ running mate, but was ultimately not offered a face-to-face interview with the vice president. He has also been a prolific fundraiser for Democrats and has set goals to raise his national profile during the 2024 election cycle.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson

As NBC Chicago has learned, Johnson will give a speech on the first day of the party convention in his hometown.

Other speakers

Several other high-ranking Illinois Democrats are reportedly scheduled to speak, including Senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth, and Representative Lauren Underwood, who is serving in the 14th congressional district.th Congressional district.

NBC News reported that President Jimmy Carter’s grandson, Jason Carter, is scheduled to speak on his grandfather’s behalf.
