800m gold medallist Keely Hodgkinson leads British Olympic team’s homecoming party

GOLDEN 800m runner Keely Hodgkinson headlined a glittering homecoming party for the British Olympic team.

Her medal was one of 65 for Britons in Paris.

The stars, including double bronze relay sprinter Amber Anning, taekwondo silver medalist Caden Cunningham and sailing gold medalist Ellie Aldridge, were treated to live music in Manchester.

The event was hosted by television presenters Vernon Kay and Emma Willis.

Great Britain finished seventh in the medal table with 14 gold, 22 silver and 29 bronze medals.

Keely’s gold in the 800m was the most watched event of all of Paris 2024.

In the meantime, experts say, she should get used to the life of luxury – her advertising revenue and other income are sure to skyrocket.

Brand guru Marcel Knobil, who has worked with Coca Cola and Yamaha, said: “Their estimated income before these Olympics was around £250,000 thanks to companies like Nike and Omega.”

“Thanks to her exceptional talent, huge success and attractive personality and looks, Keely can now look forward to earnings of well over £2 million next year alone.”

Hodgkinson grew up in the former mining town of Atherton in Greater Manchester, but since she first entered a career she has rarely looked back.

Her win earned her no support from Team GB, but she will receive £39,000 from World Athletics.

Although she had said she would treat herself to a gold Cartier ring and a Porsche, she had a family celebration in Marbella in mind immediately after her win.
