Alan Ritchson from “Reacher” remembers awkward meeting with Vin Diesel for “Fast X”

“Reacher” actor Alan Ritchson has revealed that he made a serious faux pas when he met Fast & Furious veteran Vin Diesel on set.

Ritchson is making waves in the action thriller genre, starring as Hank Hall/Hawk in Titans and Jack Reacher in Reacher. He recently entered the fast-paced underworld of street racing as Aimes in Fast X.

The actor spoke to talk show host Rich Eisen on “The Rich Eisen Show” about his entry into the film series and revealed that he accidentally insulted the lead actor of the long-running saga on set.

“I haven’t seen any other (films) and I told Vin,” he began.

He recalls the awkward moment he met Diesel: “I was like, ‘Hey, man, I hadn’t watched any of them. I saw the first one in high school, and now that I’ve got the part, I’ve seen them all, and I just love what you’ve done over the last two decades.'”

In the video interview, he winced and continued, “And he said, ‘I… thank you. I appreciate that.’

“He spent over 20 years of his life on this, this is his baby! I worked on Reacher for a couple of years. It’s such a part of my life that if someone said, ‘Thanks for letting me be on Reacher, man, I haven’t seen any of them,’ I’d be like, ‘You’re the dumbest… Why would you say that?!’ And this guy’s been on this for decades. I’m an idiot.”

However, he said that despite the slip-up, Diesel was “very polite”.

During the interview, he revealed that while doing his homework and watching the last nine films, he felt pressure to “live up” to the status of the multi-billion dollar franchise.

He concluded by saying, “I’m so grateful to be able to be a part of this at this time and at this time because I feel like I’m at a point in my career where it makes sense. And this franchise is at a point where, while it’s kind of the beginning of the end, there’s still so much that’s fresh, where this story has matured and the cast that’s put it together. It’s just so much fun to be a part of.”

The actor doesn’t have to worry about the embarrassing moment because his acting skills have made him a sought-after star in Hollywood.

Details about the second season of “Reacher” are still under wraps, but Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon Studios, recently said, “It’s going really well” and “Alan is back and he’s so fantastic in the role.”

He added: “I’m so proud of the producers for finding the right fit for Reacher. The response to the show from Reacher fans of the book has been fantastic.”

Fast X is now in cinemas in the US and UK.
