Man and dog die after collision with car in Spokane | Local

SPOKANE – On August 16, 2024 at 11:34 p.m., Spokane Police responded to a report of a vehicle-pedestrian collision in the area of ​​Division and Lincoln Road. 911 was notified that a person had been struck by a pickup truck and was unconscious in the roadway.

Paramedics responded and began life-saving measures on the injured pedestrian. Due to the severity of the injuries, officers closed the roads surrounding the intersection. Despite life-saving measures, the pedestrian died at the scene. It was also determined that a dog that was walking with the deceased man also died in the collision.

Officers interviewed the driver involved and it appears impairment was not a factor in the accident. The driver advised that they were traveling southbound on Division toward Lincoln Road when they noticed a vehicle traveling northbound that pulled out. The driver involved then noticed a man in the roadway in front of his vehicle and was unable to avoid the man.

Detectives from the Spokane Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit (MCU) arrived at the scene to assist with the investigation. The name of the deceased will be released at a later date by the Spokane County Coroner’s Office.
