City of Basile receives $250,000 Louisiana Community Development Block Grant to demolish dilapidated buildings

BASILE, La. (KLFY) — Governor Jeff Landry has approved a $250,000 grant to the City of Basile to improve the area by demolishing dilapidated buildings.

Funding came through the Louisiana Community Development Block Grant program. The city will use the grant to remove dilapidated buildings throughout the city. The goal is to restore Basile and provide better living conditions for residents.

The grant application was processed by La Louisianne Consulting, which sees it as a “significant investment in Basile’s future.”

Basile Mayor Mark Denette said he was grateful to those involved in the process for their support.

“This grant is an important step forward for our community,” said Denette. “The demolition of the dilapidated buildings will help make our city cleaner and improve the quality of life for our residents. I would like to thank the Office of Community Development and La Louisianne Consulting for their dedicated support throughout this process.”

Denette also thanked City Hall staff and City Council whose hard work and dedication played a critical role in securing this funding.
