Pub damaged by fire has to remain closed for a day because the fire is “far worse than initially thought”

A pub said it had to close for the day after an electrical fire broke out in one of its storage sheds.

The Windmill Inn in Rustington was besieged by firefighters this morning after smoke began rising from the building.

Now the pub has confirmed it will have to remain closed for the day while the business deals with the aftermath of the fire.

A spokesman for the pub said on social media that the fire in a storage shed was caused by an electrical fault.

The pub said: “We can confirm that a fire broke out in one of our storage sheds in the early hours of this morning.

“The fire brigade was on site and the fire has now been extinguished. The investigator has confirmed that it was an electrical fire.
