With The Boys season 5, the superhero series comes to an end, and no ending other than death makes sense for Homelander. The problem is who could kill him, because Antony Starr’s Homelander has proven time and time again that he is a brutal killer, and he is now essentially the ruler of the United States. However, there are a few characters who could potentially kill Homelander. Butcher is now fully focused on defeating all the Supes, and has the powers to support that goal. Starlight’s powers came back, and she even got a boost. After all, Soldier Boy’s return could be Homelander’s downfall.

Grey’s Anatomy had two major spinoffs, Private Practice and Station 19. The ending of Station 19 begs the question of which spinoff was better. Both shows were heavily tied to Grey’s Anatomy and introduced important characters to the universe. I liked both shows, and maybe it’s recency bias, but I think Station 19 was the better spinoff. Unfortunately, in the later seasons of Private Practice, some of the main characters became unbearable. While Private Practice introduced Amelia, who is now one of my favorite Grey’s Anatomy characters, I liked the main characters of Station 19 better.

There are very few seasons of television that I would call perfect and wouldn’t change a thing. Some that come to mind are Game of Thrones Season 4, Twin Peaks Season 3, The Wire Season 4, and True Detective Season 1. These may not be my favorite seasons to watch over and over again, but I think they are exceptionally well-made and outstanding examples of the medium.

While the idea of ​​a Jon Snow spinoff initially frustrated me, I do see an advantage in HBO making a series set chronologically after Game of Thrones. Especially now that HOTD continues to tie its story to GOT through the prophecy of Aegon’s Dream and Aegon’s Conquest is in development as a series, it seems like HBO wants to give the franchise an underlying narrative. Unfortunately, we already know the end of that narrative, and the controversial GOT season 8 diminishes the value of any mentions of Aegon’s Dream and A Song of Ice and Fire. Let’s say a Jon Snow series could explore the White Walkers a bit further and expand on GOT to give the franchise a more complete picture. That could be worth it.

I’m really enjoying the second season of House of the Dragon so far, but I can’t help feeling that the nearly two-year break between seasons has actually hurt the show in some way. The show’s ratings are good, but not as good as Season 1’s – the Season 2 premiere was down about 22% compared to the Season 1 premiere. Data from Google Trends shows that interest hasn’t spiked as much as it did when Season 1 was released. But I’m speaking mostly from anecdotal evidence here: I know so many people who loved Game of Thrones and watched the first season of House of the Dragon when it aired, but haven’t “got around to” watching Season 2 yet, or haven’t even noticed it’s back on. I don’t think it’s hurt the quality of the show, but it has slowed the show’s momentum. Game of Thrones worked because it came back so reliably at the same time every year, and when there were longer breaks later, it was so big that the same guaranteed audience was waiting, a luxury that HOTD doesn’t have. Five and Lila had great chemistry in earlier seasons of the show, but The Umbrella Academy season 4 took things a step further and made things romantic. The decision was controversial, and fans were vocal for and against the romance. I found it odd at first, especially given Diego’s stance on his brother and wife getting together. However, I must say that over time I grew to like the couple as there was real chemistry, and since both had spent 7 years with just the other as company, it made sense.
