Akshay Kumar unveils the CBR 650F at Honda Revfest » MotorOctane

At a unique launch event held simultaneously at seven locations across India, Honda showcased four of its new models and gave an exclusive preview of a fifth model, fulfilling its promise to launch 15 motorcycles in 2015.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Keita Muramatsu noted that RevFest was much more than just a celebration and for them, it marked the beginning of motorcycling in India. The first motorcycle on stage was the recently launched Honda Livo, a 110cc commuter motorcycle that will be in showrooms from this month. Hot on the heels of the Live were the Honda CBR 150R and CBR 250R with refreshed visual changes. The CBR 250R was ridden on stage by actress and youth icon Taapsee Pannu, who recently joined Honda as a brand ambassador. The CBR 150R and 250R, however, retained the same mechanicals and specifications but came with vibrant graphics, which enhanced their appeal.

Another attraction at RevFest was the CB Hornet 160R, which came with some interesting features like wider tires, a digital LCD meter, wave disc brakes with CBS and an overall edgy and radical look. This is perhaps the first time that Honda has used the Hornet name for a motorcycle in this segment, which is otherwise used for some of the famous motorcycles in the 250 – 900cc range. The grand finale was the CBR 650F, which was brought on stage by actor and Honda brand ambassador Akshay Kumar. The completely made in India motorcycle has an inline four-cylinder 16V DOHC engine that produces 87 bhp at 11,000 rpm. A twin-spar steel frame encloses the engine, giving the motorcycle a compact look. This motorcycle is expected to cost well over 800,000 Indian Rupees (on-road, New Delhi) and will be available through an exclusive network of elite Wing World dealers across the country.

Honda has also released a teaser for a new “Mystery Motorcycle,” with images showing close-ups of a digital meter console, petal disc brakes and alloy wheels, and flowing silhouette lines of the bike. It certainly looks like a naked/semi-naked motorcycle, probably in the 150-300cc range. Honda’s official style partner, Italian denim brand GAS, showcased its 2015-16 Fall/Winter collection in a chic fashion show. Claudio Grotto, founder and president of Grotto Spa Gas, joined the models on the runway and spoke about making special motorcycle apparel and accessories available through Honda’s chain of Wing World dealerships across the country.

The event was held simultaneously in eight cities in India, namely New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Indore and Ahmedabad, and was linked via live broadcast.
