FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – This weekend, the Fort Wayne Dance Collective presents its 7th annual Collective Expressions show, featuring dance performances by professional dancers with and without disabilities.

Collective Expressions is an annual collaborative performance by the professional and youth companies of the Fort Wayne Dance Collective, showcasing contemporary dance choreography.

According to Fort Wayne Dance Collective, the themes of the 7th annual Collective Expressions show include “unconditional love, change, finding yourself, positivity and, most importantly, being seen.”

The 7th annual Collective Expressions show will also feature the Dancing Wheels Company and collaborating musician and projection artist Alec Johnson. Dancing Wheels is a professional, physically integrated dance company with dancers with and without disabilities.

The Fort Wayne Dance Collective says the Dancing Wheels Company was a perfect fit when selecting guest artists for this year’s production.

The Fort Wayne Dance Collective’s collaboration with Dancing Wheels began in January 2024 when it offered a physically integrated dance technique course for the Fort Wayne community. They also offered physically integrated teacher trainings for teaching artists of all dance styles.

FWDC says it is more than pleased to partner with Dancing Wheels specifically for this performance, as a big part of its mission is to ensure the performing arts are accessible to all people.

The Fort Wayne Dance Collective’s 7th Annual Collective Expressions show will be held on Saturday, August 17th at 7:30pm and Sunday, August 18th at 2:30pm at Purdue Fort Wayne’s Williams Theater.

Tickets are available for $20 in advance at fwdc.org or $25 at the door.
