Director confirms postponement of release date for Fast & Furious 11

The release date of the upcoming 11th Fast & Furious film has been postponed.

The film, which serves as the second installment to last year’s Fast X, was originally scheduled to hit theaters in April 2025 but is now scheduled for summer 2026.

In an interview with Collider, director Louis Leterrier explained that the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes last year had a major impact on production – filming is now scheduled to begin this year.

“It’s happening. It’s happening very, very soon. I may shoot a little horror movie this summer. I finish my horror movie on September 15th and start Fast on September 16th,” he said.

News of the delay comes after Tyrese Gibson, who plays Roman Pearce in the series, gave fans a disappointing update on filming.

“Because of the strike, both strikes, there were some real delays in writing and getting the movie off the ground,” he told CBR. “I’ve heard we’re going to start in 2025, right at the beginning of the year.”

“I think the pressure right now is to take the film to the next level and bring it to the next level. As you’ve seen, Gal Gadot and The Rock are back, which is exciting.”

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson confirmed his surprise return to the franchise last year and Wonder Woman star Gadot will also make an appearance in the upcoming film.

On Instagram, Johnson revealed that he will reprise the role of Luke Hobbs in his solo spin-off film, which will “open a fresh, new chapter and serve as a set-up for Fast X: Part II.”

Gadot’s return follows her shocking reappearance as Gisele Yashar in the final scene of the latest film, where her character was presumed dead.

Fast X: Part 2 is scheduled to be released in 2026. Fast X can be viewed on Prime Video, iTunes, Microsoft Store and more.
