Live report: Jazzy conquers the main stage of Electric Picnic with a stunning dance set

As the first act on Electric Picnic’s main stage, Jazzy set a jubilant precedent for other main stage performances.

A steady but noticeable migration of fans of all faiths and ages could be observed slowly migrating to Electric Picnic’s. Main stage before the highly anticipated performance of Dublin dance sensation Jazzy. Opening with “NRG”, the Crumlin artist wowed the crowd with her rousing performance, which was characterised by driving beats and lush sound arrangements.

With a mix of diehard Jazzy followers and a host of new fans, Jazzy made the bold decision to debut a new track titled “No Bad Vibes” and the crowd, whether already Jazzy loyal or not, enjoyed the high BPM dance track.

The risk paid off, and from the barriers to the food trucks, euphoric jumping and head shaking could be seen as Jazzy entertained the crowd with her infectious yet melodic beats.

Really, there were no bad vibes on the newly released track.

Of course, the performance that probably drew the biggest reaction from the Electric Picnic crowd was the jazz hit “Make Me Feel Good,” a collaboration with Belters Only. This single had the desired effect on the main stage as well, with the crowd swelling and cheering to the tune.

Just before Jazzy’s latest smash hit “Life Lesson,” the artist gave her DJ and fiancé Ross Mooney a playful kiss before launching into the song.

During “Life Lesson,” fans could be heard on shoulders and there was cheerful clapping to accompany it, but it was not the greatest moment of the artist’s far too short performance.

“Giving Me” – Jazzy’s first solo hit proved to be the crescendo: groups of friends hugged arm in arm and sang along to the song’s irresistibly catchy choruses.

The Ivor Novello Award-nominated singer demonstrated her skills as a crowd-pleasing main stage act whose appeal extends far beyond the realm of Irish dance music.
