What happened in episode 6 of Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest?

Episode No. 6 introduces Ignia, the Fire God Dragon

After a funny little comedy segment, episode #6 of Fairy Tail: 100 Years of Adventure lures viewers back to the main battle against Mercphobia, where Natsu continues to fight while the Water God Dragon blocks his every attack. Just then, Natsu is sucked into the sky by a whirlpool and emerges, held by a giant red dragon that resembles Igneel.

The red, fire-breathing dragon mocks Natsu for not being able to defeat Mercphobia and attacks the city of Ermina, setting it ablaze. The dragon then reveals itself as Ignia, Igneel’s biological son, and reveals his wish to one day, when he is strong enough, to face Natsu in a duel. Ignia explains that he and many other dragons escaped from Acnologia 400 years ago and the five of them who survived became the so-called God Dragons.

Eventually, they became stronger than Acnologia and Ignia explains that he wanted to defeat Acnologia himself to test his strength. However, he heard that Natsu had defeated Acnologia and so came to Ermina out of curiosity, but was disappointed by Natsu’s weakness. Ignia therefore challenges Natsu to a future battle and tells him to become stronger by then. He urges him to eat his flames and use them to defeat Mercphobia, after which he leaves.

Despite his initial reluctance, Natsu eats Ignia’s flames and awakens a new form of dragon power, defeating Mercphobia with the support of the rest of his friends. However, Lucy has to stop Natsu from completely killing Mercphobia when he loses his senses and goes into a blind rage. Luckily, a hug from Lucy is enough to calm Natsu, who promptly collapses at the end of the episode.

With the great battle against Mercphobia finally over and the threat averted, Natsu and the others will likely embark on the next leg of their journey to Guiltina in Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest episode #7. The upcoming episode will likely deal with the aftermath of the battle, specifically the damage done to the town of Ermina and how the battle affected Mercphobia itself.

Episode #7 will also likely reveal more about the other God Dragons that Natsu and his friends are tasked with sealing away as part of the titular 100-year quest. The Water God Dragon’s rampage in previous episodes has shown just how powerful the God Dragons really are, and with Ignia’s appearance, the story’s overarching plot has also immediately become much more exciting. Currently, it looks like Ignia could be the final boss of the series, especially due to his personal connection to Igneel and Natsu.

Apart from that, Episode #7 could also finally visit the White Mage and the wizards of the Fairy Tail Guild in Ishgar, who have been there since Episode #5 of Fairy Tail: 100 Years of Adventure. With the White Magician still on the loose, the Fairy Tail guild and all of its members are still in great danger and their fate will hopefully be revealed soon in the upcoming episodes of Fairy Tail: 100 Years of Adventure.
