Dricus Du Plessis and Israel Adesanya get the last look

PERTH, Australia – Dricus Du Plessis and Israel Adesanya completed their final tasks before finally sharing the Octagon at the UFC 305 ceremonial weigh-in on Friday.

After making weight earlier in the day, current champion Du Plessis (21-2 MMA, 7-0 UFC) and former two-time titleholder Adesanya (24-3 MMA, 13-3 UFC) faced each other one last time in a tense staredown in front of fans, media and the world watching online.

Du Plessis will attempt to defend his 185-pound belt for the first time after taking it from Sean Strickland in January at UFC 297. Adesanya, for his part, will attempt to join Randy Couture as the only fighter in history with three separate reigns in a single weight class.

The stakes are as high as possible and the energy between champion and challenger is accordingly high.

UFC 305 takes place on Saturday at the RAC Arena. The main event will be broadcast on pay-per-view on ESPN+, following preliminary fights on ESPN and ESPN+.
