Disney is expanding its cruise line with four new ships by 2031

Disney is expanding all of its revenue streams. During “D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event” in California, the company’s Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro announced not only the largest expansion of its US parks, but also the expansion of the cruise line’s fleet. After announcing several new additions in recent months, including the launch of its largest ship to date, D’Amaro now revealed that four new ships will set sail between 2027 and 2031.

Disney Cruise Line already has five cruise ships in its fleet and four more have already been announced. With the announcement of four more ships, there will be a total of thirteen Disney cruise ships sailing around the world by 2031, underscoring the company’s obvious success.

“Disney Cruise Line is consistently the highest-rated cruise line for families because we offer something for everyone. By expanding our fleet, more people in more parts of the world will have the opportunity to experience a vacation at sea that only Disney can provide,” D’Amaro said during “Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase.”

Although the number of ships has been announced, no details have been released about the layout of the ships or where they will operate. “At Disney Experiences, Imagineers dream, create, design and build these stories into real places… everything we’re about to share with you is in active development. Plans are being drawn. The earth is moving,” commented Josh D’Amaro.

“Disney Cruise Line is a shining example of the diversity and breadth of experiences that make up the Disney Experiences portfolio – it combines our signature Disney service, storytelling and innovation. Our growing fleet will further strengthen Disney Cruise Line’s position as the leader in family cruising. Disney Cruise Line has delivered a strong return on investment thanks to high-quality experiences, high guest satisfaction and consistent demand, with occupancy across all five ships reaching 97% in the second quarter of 2024,” said Thomas Mazloum, President of New Experiences Portfolio and Disney Signature Experiences.

Disney Cruise Line ships offer guests a complete Disney experience, whether in the Caribbean, Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, Alaska, Bermuda, Canada, Mexico, Hawaii, Australia or elsewhere. From Lion King-themed restaurants to Moana productions to Broadway shows about Hercules, the company has a clear selling point that it claims to use to entice the cruise audience.
