LCTA expands service on Saturday; detours also announced

WILKES-BARRE — The Luzerne County Transportation Authority is offering extra service between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday to accommodate the influx of visitors to the Pittston Tomato Festival. The bus is open to the public and costs the regular fare of $1.75. Seniors ride free.

Buses operate in two continuous loops, departing from the station every five minutes from 11:00 a.m. to 12:35 p.m. and from the Tomato Festival every five minutes from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Bus Loop 1 picks up passengers at the station, drops them off on Church Street in Pittston, and returns to the station. Bus Loop 2 picks up passengers at the station, drops them off in downtown Pittston, and returns to the station.

FROM THE TRAIN STATION: The bus will travel right down Main Street, left down New St., left down Parsonage St., right down Center St., right down Laurel St., right down William St., left down Church St. and will drop off passengers at the end of Church Street at the stop sign.

FROM PITTSTON: The bus will take a left onto Broad St., a right onto Front St., a left onto Broad St., a left onto Pittston By-Pass, a left onto William St., an immediate right onto Laurel St., a left onto Center St., a left onto Parsonage St., a right onto New St., a right onto Main St., and a left into the station.

FROM THE TRAIN STATION: The bus will go right down Main St., right down Kennedy Blvd., and left at the memorial on Main St. The drop-off and pick-up stop is in front of the big white tent just behind the UFCW Federal Credit Union.

OUT FROM PITTSTON: The bus goes straight down Main St. and turns left into the station.
