MRF parliamentary group leader Peevski meets with Grand Mufti

The leader of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) faction, Delyan Peevski, met with the Grand Mufti of Bulgaria, Mustafa Hadzhi, and the Secretary General of the Grand Mufti’s Office, Dzhelal Faik, the MRF said in a press release on Friday. The meeting discussed the role of religions in Bulgaria, and Islam in particular. All participants agreed that the unification of Muslims is necessary to promote traditional family values ​​and to raise children in the spirit of these values.

Peevski expressed his deep respect and appreciation for the work of the Grand Mufti in preserving tolerance and peaceful coexistence between people of different religions and the equality of all Bulgarian citizens. He also stressed the important role of Bulgarian Muslims in preserving tolerance and unity of Bulgarian society.

The issue of the urgently needed renovation of the Grand Mufti’s building in Sofia was also discussed, as the funds for the renovation will be provided from the capital expenditure of the central budget for 2024.

The meeting was attended by senior MRF member and deputy speaker of parliament Yordan Tsonev, deputy MRF parliamentary group leader Bayram Bayram, as well as MPs Halil Letifov, Stanislav Anastasov, Hamid Hamid, Erten Anisova, Elvan Gyurkas and Iskra Mihaylova.
