Walmart customers are confused by the “outrageous” $17 location surcharge – and in certain states it will be even more expensive

A WALMART customer sharply criticized the company for unexpectedly charging a fee based on location.

The buyer had to pay an additional $17 for a mobile order, apparently because he lived in Puerto Rico.

The US territory is a Caribbean island, which means that many American companies face obstacles when shipping goods there – similar to Hawaii and Alaska.

Walmart is one of many companies that charge extra for shipping to the area.

The Puerto Rico resident claimed this was “discrimination” since most Americans do not have to pay the fee.

Fee rush

Shopper @LuKaMaMe on X shared his story with a screenshot of a Walmart mobile shopping cart.

While it is unclear whether the order is a shipping order coming from a warehouse or a shipment coming directly from the store, one thing is clear.

It’s a costly order – $57.55 for just five items.

However, $17 of this total is listed as a “location fee.”

The buyer therefore wonders why he has to pay the extra price.

“Okay, so you’re actually worse than Amazon,” they said, calling the surcharge “discrimination against Puerto Ricans.”

“What is a location premium????” they asked.

‘We left,’ says Walmart customer after abandoning his shopping cart with over $300 worth of items – he was forced to shop at the retailer

The user seemed to point out that Amazon, like many other companies, charges fees to ship items to the island.

The Walmart website admits that there are fees for shipping items outside the continental United States.

However, it is not made clear what this fee is in total, which suggests that it may vary depending on the location or item.

The US Sun has asked Walmart for comment.

WHALE-WORSHIP

Walmart has made a number of changes to its stores across the country – including a new layout.

But not everyone is enthusiastic about the redesign.

One customer recently sharply criticized the change and called it a “nightmare.”

Others have complained about more individual problems.

One shopper reported leaving behind a whopping $200 worth of groceries after a frustrating shopping experience.

Walmart’s CEO has said the company will push for price reductions on some products in light of deflation.

The CEO of a technology company has said that customers are unhappy with their groceries being locked away.
