Williams debutant Franco Colapinto could hardly wish for better conditions for his first Grand Prix start this weekend in Monza.

The fastest Grand Prix weekend of the year is also set to be one of the hottest of the 2024 season.

A week after the Dutch Grand Prix, when extremely strong winds and regular rain on Friday and Saturday posed additional challenges to the event, the teams can expect a much more normal weekend in Monza.

There is virtually no risk of rain affecting the three days of racing. Bright sunshine is expected on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

This is shaping up to be one of the hottest events of the championship so far. The first day of practice on Friday is likely to be dry and hot, with ambient temperatures of 32°C expected for the first practice session of the weekend. Although second practice doesn’t start until 5pm, it should stay just as hot as the riders complete their long runs in second practice.

It should be no different on the qualification day on Saturday: both the last practice session and the qualification itself at 4 p.m. are expected to have clear skies and temperatures will again be around 30 °C.

Sunday’s Grand Prix is expected to remain dry as conditions are once again sunny and summery. The race starts at 3pm local time, with outside temperatures expected to be around 33 degrees – making it one of the hottest races of the season so far.

Although conditions will be very similar to many recent Italian Grands Prix, this could be the hottest race at Monza of the 21st century so far if the forecast 33-degree mark is exceeded on Sunday. After drivers suffered strong winds all weekend at Zandvoort, there should be minimal wind over the three days of racing.
