A Nigerian recently broke the world record for visiting most fast food restaurants in 24 hours. Munachimso Brian Nwana, a 22-year-old content creator and food consultant, set the record in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria. Brian beat the previous record of 100 and managed to visit 150 fast food restaurants within the time limit. According to Guinness World Records (GWR), “No private transport can be used in this record attempt and due to the city’s limited public transport infrastructure, Brian covered the entire distance on foot.” He ended up covering over 25 kilometers.

In addition, GWR explains, “To beat the record, at least one food or drink must be purchased and consumed at each restaurant, with at least 75% of orders being food.” Brian began his attempt at 5 p.m. and took a sleep break from midnight to 9 a.m. He tried something at most of the establishments he visited. Whatever food was left over was consumed by his team and guests, GWR explained.

The food he ate included shawarma, pizza, chicken, burgers, etc. as well as his Nigerian dishes like moin moin (bean pudding) and amala (a dough-like slurp dish). GWR revealed that he “accepted this challenge to promote Abuja restaurants and showcase Nigerian cuisine.”

Two record attempts immediately preceding Brian’s attempt had taken place in New York City. Brian seems proud that he was able to set the record in Nigeria’s capital. He told GWR: “In New York there are tons of restaurants and a decent public transport system, so doing this in Abuja was much more difficult and challenging.”
