VINELAND – Cumberland County authorities said a man shot a 21-year-old woman in a home in the area and then apparently killed himself.

According to the Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office, police found the woman and the 22-year-old man at a residence on Roosevelt Boulevard around 6 p.m. Monday. Both were flown to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where they were pronounced dead.

The public prosecutor’s office said its initial investigation had shown that the man shot the woman and himself.

“The parties were not married but were previously in a relationship,” a statement said.

The results of the investigation depend on the results of the autopsy, it said. The deceased were identified only by their initials – MR for the woman, JCS for the man.

Police found her after responding to a report of shots fired.

The investigation is ongoing, the public prosecutor’s office announced on Tuesday.
