Mojave Water Agency offers free seed workshop and bus tour

Mojave Water Agency officials announced that registration is open for “The Need for Seed” workshop in September and the “MWA Roadshow” bus tour in October.

As part of the Wonders of Water workshop series, Neville Slade, Professor of Agriculture at Victor Valley College, speaks about the importance of ecological restoration and the benefits of modern seed banks and collections during the workshop “The Need For Seed”.

“The Need For Seed” event will be held on September 10 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Mojave Water Agency headquarters, 13846 Conference Center Drive in Apple Valley.

All Wonders of Water events are free and designed to educate the public about local water supplies, science, conservation and sustainability. Topics range from family-friendly presentations and activities to intermediate-level scientific studies, according to organizers.

MWA Roadshow

The “MWA Roadshow” includes a four-hour bus tour that starts at 8 a.m. on October 17th at the water authority’s headquarters.

The tour includes a complimentary continental breakfast and a visit to the Regional Recharge and Recovery Project in Hesperia.

The event will feature agency representatives discussing the role of the Mojave Water Agency and providing an opportunity to network with other community members. The tour will conclude with lunch at agency headquarters.

Each tour participant must complete a separate online registration form and liability release with the Mojave Water Agency prior to departure.
