Wärtsilä Water & Waste partners with DHL to maximize supply chain efficiency

Wärtsilä Water & Waste, part of the Wärtsilä technology group, announces a new partnership with DHL Supply Chain, under which DHL will manage the company’s warehousing and logistics operations for spare parts. The partnership will further optimize Wärtsilä Water & Waste’s supply chain and build operational capacity in preparation for the sale of the Water & Waste business unit from the Group.

The transition is in line with Wärtsilä Water & Waste’s strategic objectives to position the company towards operational independence and maintain the high-quality services the Group stands for. The partnership will also minimise lead times and increase efficiency for current and future customers.

“We are always striving to improve our operations and customer experience and this partnership is a great example of that. By working with DHL, who shares our commitment to providing world-class services and solutions, we are also taking a significant step forward in achieving operational independence and strategic divestment,” says Cathy Stephenson, Managing Director, Wärtsilä Water & Waste.

A key element of the partnership is the greater flexibility it offers to Wärtsila Water & Waste’s supply chain operations. By leveraging DHL’s extensive logistics network and expertise, the company can quickly adapt to changing market demands and customer needs. The flexibility ensures that spare parts are delivered promptly and efficiently, reducing downtime and increasing customer satisfaction. The scalability of the DHL service enables the company to respond dynamically to fluctuations in demand, ensuring a stable and responsive supply chain.

“We are proud to deepen our cooperation with Wärtsilä. Over the years we have developed extensive knowledge of their products and services and understand their specific requirements and the circumstances in which they operate. It feels like a natural progression to now extend our logistics expertise to Wärtsilä Water & Waste and contribute to the unique customer experiences they create,” says John Scherders, CEO of DHL Supply Chain Benelux & Nordics.

The switch to DHL Supply Chain will take place by the end of 2024.
