New You Laser is sued, woman claims her vagina was burned during hair removal
A woman went to a laser hair removal company but got more than she bargained for… she suffered severe burns in two very sensitive areas of her body… at least according to a new lawsuit.
Amy Romero is suing New You Laser, claiming that her February 2023 laser hair removal appointment was a complete disaster and resulted in burns to her armpits and vagina.
In the lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, Romero claims that right at the beginning of the procedure she felt a burning sensation that she had never felt before … and she complained to the technician about the pain.
Romero says the technician assured her there was nothing to worry about. He told her the machine was set to the usual temperature, dismissed her complaint and asked if it might have something to do with her menstrual cycle.
In the lawsuit, Romero claims the technician did not check or adjust the temperature of the device and instead continued with the laser hair removal … while ignoring other concerns Romero had about the laser appearing brighter and yellower than usual.
Romero says she told the technician her armpits were sore from the laser treatment, but the technician then began treating her vagina…where she felt a “searing sensation” from the laser treatment.
The woman claims she stopped the technician from continuing due to the unbearable pain… and says the technician tried to continue and end the session anyway, which Romero refused.
Romero says the technician gave her hydrocortisone cream to help ease the pain…but she says the discomfort only got worse…and she noticed redness in her pubic area and the formation of dark gray rings on her vagina and under her arms.
She says her skin looked like it was about to fall off, and the technician and shop owner only offered her more cream when she begged for something to relieve the pain. And she claims it took 15 minutes for them to bring her an ice pack and ointments – none of which helped.
Romero says she couldn’t even leave the store because it was so painful… She called an Uber and drove straight to the emergency room, where doctors diagnosed her with first-degree burns to her armpits and vagina.
She claims that the scars caused by the burns required treatment by a dermatologist, who told her that her pubic area would never fully recover.
Romero says the burns left painful, ugly and grotesque scars… and she claims the injuries prevented her from working as a dancer and forced her to miss shows, auditions, jobs and modeling jobs.
She is demanding $1.5 million in damages from New You Laser.
