She is not moving in this regard.

Governor Kathy Hochul promised that the price of a glass of milk at the annual New York State Fair would not change as long as she was in the governor’s mansion – she did not care about external cost pressures and inflation.

“As long as I’m governor, it’s never going to go up,” Hochul told The Post on Wednesday as she deftly poured a few glasses of cow juice at the Syracuse Fair’s famous Rainbow Dairy Bar.

The Empire State has been subsidizing the Milk Bar for nearly a decade, ever since the nonprofit that dispenses iced 7-ounce cups of white milk and chocolate milk announced it would have to double the price to $0.50.

However, for then-Governor Andrew Cuomo, this increase in lactose prices was simply unbearable. In 2015, he announced that the state would contribute $90,000 to keep the price at the level it had been since 1983, when his father Mario was governor.

Visitors drink between 350,000 and 400,000 cups each year, milk bar operator New York State Dairy Exhibits, Inc., told Syracuse.com.

A spokesman for the budget department was initially unable to say exactly how high the state subsidies for the milk bar would be this year.

Hochul’s promise to freeze prices came as she marched through the fair surrounded by reporters, staff and members of her cabinet, occasionally stopping to chat with other fairgoers.

“Take advantage of every program you can get,” Hochul told a young girl participating in 4-H as she held a freshly poured cup of ice-cold chocolate milk. “I would get involved in anything you can, because you never know where you’re going to end up in 4-H.”

The governor also spoke at a women’s breakfast before stopping by the Horticulture Building and signing a nice bill that allows prospective sugar cane planters to lease state lands for maple syrup production for up to ten years instead of the current five.

After mingling with a group of mounted state troopers and meeting one of their horses, James Bond, Hochul happened upon Republican representatives Brandon Williams and Nicole Malliotakis, who shouted to the Democrat, “Staten Island is in the house!”

Later, in keeping with fair tradition, she shared a Basilio sausage with Syracuse’s independent mayor, Ben Walsh.
