Aiken County house guest secretly films teenager with bathroom camera

A man staying at an Aiken County home secretly used a hidden camera to film a 15-year-old girl in the bathroom, authorities said.

When the camera was discovered in the Wageners’ home and investigators confiscated the suspect’s phone, they found video and nude images of the teenage victim, according to a sheriff’s report. Officers also found several nude images of younger girls on the man’s phone.

Anthony Silva, 54, of Lexington, was charged Tuesday with 29 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

On July 15, the homeowner or resident called the sheriff’s office and reported that Silva had been given permission to stay in his home with him and his teenage daughter for the past three months.

“The complainants discovered a wireless camera disguised as a wall charger in the teen’s bathroom,” the report states. “The complainant stated the suspect was supposed to be working that evening and it is suspicious that he did not go to work but stayed home despite knowing the teenage daughter was there.”

Officers were shown a black cube with a Type C charging cable plugged into it. The lens of the device was pointed at the bathtub, the report said.

According to authorities, Anthony Silva used such a secret camera.

When officers arrived, Silva was still in the apartment. Officers immediately confiscated his iPhone and put him in a patrol car. He was later released pending the outcome of the investigation.

According to the warrants, the suspect’s phone contained several pictures of the teenager in the bathroom, including images in which her body was enlarged. Other photos showed various pornographic depictions of underage girls, ages 7 to 14, the warrants say.

Silva remained at the Aiken County Detention Center Wednesday night.
