Here’s our own curated look at what’s happening in the High Desert this week and weekend.

Choose between a family movie night, line dancing lessons, vintage shopping, an event at Grange Hall and more to fill your free time this week.

Grand opening of Wild Goose vintage and second hand store

Wild Goose Vintage & Thrift Store is the newest addition to Victorville’s ever-evolving Old Town. The grand opening for the community kicked off on Saturday, August 24th with music and food, but the official town opening will be on Tuesday, August 27th from 11am-12pm.

The community is invited to browse a beautiful selection of clothing, jewelry and other used items after the official ribbon cutting ceremony. The new vintage store at 16822 C St. is related to its sister vintage store, Goose, in Apple Valley, which also donates its proceeds to the Ruth and Naomi Project for senior living and community programs.

Family movie night

The High Desert community is invited to an evening of free popcorn, movie screenings and lots of fun. The Spring Lake Valley Association presents a free screening of “Night at the Museum” beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, August 30, at Meadowlark Hall, 12975 Rolling Ridge Dr.

Bring your own chair or blanket and meet other Spring Lake Valley families at the community event. SVLA membership cards or guest passes are required for the film screening.

Car show in Apple Valley

What would a High Desert events calendar be without a weekly car show? Apple Valley’s Car Show & Barbeque Bash is this Saturday, August 31st from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 9425 Central Rd.

A set by DJ Kev Dog will get car fans in the mood during the raffle, grand prize drawing and awards ceremony. Guests are asked to bring their own chairs and all proceeds will go to U.S. veterans charities.
