Eggs Up Grill opens 7 new restaurants – find out where

If you’re looking for a new place to grab omelets, buttermilk pancakes, and Belgian waffles, you’re in for some exciting news. A fast-growing breakfast chain serving all of those classic morning favorites (and more!) is currently gearing up for a major expansion.

Eggs Up Grill recently announced a development agreement that will bring seven brand new locations to the South. Of the new locations – operated by existing Eggs Up Grill franchisee Conley McIntyre – six will open in Charlotte, NC, while the seventh will open in Travelers Rest, SC

McIntyre already owns six Eggs Up Grill locations in South Carolina, and his first Charlotte-area restaurant is scheduled to open in Monroe County later this year.

“The best testament we could ask for is when existing franchisees continue to invest in and believe in the strength of the Eggs Up Grill brand,” CEO Ricky Richardson said in the announcement. “Conley is an award-winning, influential, humble and loyal franchisee who embodies the spirit of our brand and culture, and we are proud to have him lead our growth in Charlotte.”

The planned locations in Charlotte and Travelers Rest represent just a small part of Eggs Up Grill’s ambitious expansion plans. The company currently operates over 30 restaurants in the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida, Virginia, Tennessee, Alabama, Texas and Mississippi and has another 100 locations in development or planned for opening over the next 10 years.

These exciting expansion plans were announced at a time of thriving success for Eggs Up Grill. Although the first location opened in 1997 and franchising began 20 years ago, the chain saw a whopping 25.2% increase in sales and a 20.3% increase in locations from 2022 to 2023. Its runaway success is due, at least in part, to several changes made to the company following its acquisition by private equity firm WJ Partners in 2018. WJ has hired a new CEO– former TGI Fridays president Ricky Richardson – and the chain began to allocate more resources to help its franchisees.

“Like many entrepreneurially run companies, there was little structure and very few resources. The reputation was there, but we needed to invest in those resources and structures to achieve our shared vision of the brand’s future opportunities,” Richardson said. Eggs Up Grill is not the only breakfast chain currently experiencing rapid growth. Earlier this year, First Watch announced plans to open between 51 and 57 new restaurants in 2024, entering the Las Vegas and New England markets for the first time. In addition, Another Broken Egg Cafe unveiled a development deal in January that will brings 13 new locations to Florida, Kansas, North Carolina and Texas over the next few years.
