Three masked men set fire to shop after pouring petrol on the floor – horror video surveillance
Shocking surveillance camera footage has emerged showing the moment three masked individuals stormed into a local supermarket, doused it with petrol and then started a fire.
The trio were filmed storming the Manchester store near Ancoats on Sunday evening (25 August) wearing hoodies and face masks, with one of the offenders pouring petrol on the ground.
A customer inside the store is seen fleeing just moments before the store goes up in flames. The alarming incident, reported at around 5:40 p.m., also shows one of the group throwing the burning gasoline canister onto the sidewalk, causing parts of the pavement to catch fire, according to a harrowing video posted on Instagram.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the fire was quickly extinguished and there were no injuries. All those inside the store were safely evacuated. Authorities have launched an arson investigation and are currently actively searching for the three masked individuals involved, reports the Manchester Evening News.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “Officers are investigating an arson at a shop on Butler Street, Manchester. At around 5.40pm on Sunday 25 August 2024, three unknown males entered the shop and poured a small amount of petrol onto the shop floor. The fire was extinguished and fortunately no one was injured and all occupants were safely evacuated.
“Detectives from North Manchester Criminal Investigation Department are investigating the incident and although no arrests have been made to date, enquiries are ongoing to locate the three men.”
A spokesman for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) added: “At around 5.10pm on Sunday 25 August, three fire engines from Manchester Central, Philips Park and Blackley fire stations were called to a fire at a commercial property on Butler Street, Ancoats.”
“The firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire with a hose reel and were on duty for around two hours.”
