Three dead in road accident in Anglesey | Wales

Three people were killed in a road accident in Anglesey (Ynys Môn), police said.

North Wales Police said its officers responded to reports of a collision in Beaumaris shortly after 2.45pm on Wednesday. Three people were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident in Alma Street, on the seafront near Beaumaris Pier.

Firefighters, ambulances and rescue helicopters were also on site. Police urged people to avoid the area, including the nearby High Street, which they said is expected to be closed “for some time”.

Virginia Crosbie, the former Conservative MP for Ynys Môn, said in a statement on Facebook: “My thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families and loved ones.”

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We have dispatched two emergency ambulances, a paramedic from the Cymru High Acuity Response Unit, an experienced paramedic, a duty incident commander and a site manager to the scene.”

“We were supported by pre-hospital emergency care specialists from the North Wales Emergency Doctor Service and the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service provided advanced intensive care in a rescue helicopter from the charity Wales Air Ambulance.”

Ch Insp Caroline Mullen-Hurst, of North Wales Police, said: “Sadly, we have to confirm that three people were fatally injured in the incident. We are asking any witnesses to the incident who have not yet spoken to officers, or anyone who may have dashcam footage, to please come forward.”

Witnesses can contact North Wales Police via the website or by calling 101.
