Pictures and quotes below…

About the Pop Girl Moment:

“I hope it continues like this. It’s been a while since we’ve had something that feels like that ‘main pop girl’ energy. Pop just wasn’t inspiring, at least for me, so I think it’s really cool to see how many people are thriving in that space now. We love seeing that.”

On the “absolute” rivalry among pop girls:

“I don’t have any rivalries. I love all the girls. But it’s classic. As a woman in the music industry, you’re extremely competitive because we’re taught that there’s not enough room for everyone, which leads to a lot of competition. There’s a lot of secret animosity, little things behind the scenes, people not supporting each other the way that maybe male artists do. That’s definitely how I’ve felt over the years.”

For industrial plants:

“Sort of. I’m sure that almost everyone who has made it to some degree of success has put in a lot of work behind the scenes that people don’t know about. So I think it’s unlikely that it’s a pure Plant band, but I’m sure that major labels and the machinery behind them are extremely powerful when they’re working in your favor and you have momentum. You can really get going. So do I think that some people get totally pumped up by the machinery? Absolutely. But I wouldn’t say it’s a pure Plant thing.”

On the fact that viral is not everything:

“Going viral is fun. It’s everything you expect it to be. There’s a lot of excitement, attention and exposure. It starts very quickly and ends very quickly. My main takeaway is that it’s just a moment. To build a lasting career and something that has a real legacy, you have to do the work around the viral moment. I’m glad I had a whole album ready, because if you don’t have anything to complement that moment, they come and go so quickly.”
