“Agatha All Along” Episode Runtime Revealed (And They Might Surprise You)

Marvel Studios is still reveling in the success of Deadpool and Wolverine but now it seems to be bringing its success back to the small screen as well, as its next installment will be none other than the Disney Plus series Agatha – All the time.

A sequel / spinoff series to WandaVisionbrings back Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness, the witch who tried to claim the Scarlet Witch’s power for herself by posing as her seemingly harmless neighbor Agnes. Things went downhill for the centuries-old witch when Wanda locked her true personality into the character she was playing, but a chance encounter with a mysterious figure (played by Aubrey Plaza) after Wanda’s apparent death will help Agatha regain control.

Viewers aren’t quite sure what to expect from the upcoming series (especially after WandaVision was quite innovative in terms of both format and running time), but the trailers suggest that we are in for a huge tour. However, the running times of the first four episodes have been revealed and paint a pretty interesting picture.

We now have the first clues as to how long Agatha’s new adventures will be, as the running times of the first four episodes of Agatha – All the time were revealed. Twitter account News about Scarlet Witchwhich has always been right with its various blockbusters in the past, has announced the episode lengths:

Episode 1: 39 minutes, 49 seconds
Episode 2: 41 minutes, 25 seconds
Episode 3: 37 minutes, 2 seconds
Episode 4: 40 minutes, 52 seconds

The interesting thing about these runtimes is that they probably include the credits (which can be up to five minutes long for Disney Plus shows), meaning that every single show without credits will be much shorter. And that puts them on par with She-Hulk: Lawyerthe earlier episodes of WandaVisionAnd What if…? as well as some of the shortest Marvel TV episodes (especially the third, which will apparently only be 32 minutes long without credits).

It is not uncommon for other Marvel shows to have shorter episodes (Loki could occasionally stream a 35-minute episode), but there were always longer episodes to compensate. Agathaon the other hand, seems to aim to replicate the format of the above shows, only it is generally shorter than the typical 42-60 minute runtime of the majority of MCU shows.

AGATHA ALL THE TIME

This is a smart approach. The episodes of WandaVision came in and out and left the audience wanting more without sticking around too long. That’s what a number of subsequent MCU shows have struggled with, so it goes without saying that it’s smart for Agatha – All the time to also adopt the short-term and alliance approach.

Additionally, since the series will experiment with some of the same elements as its predecessor (while also moving toward both musical and horror), it’s probably best that it takes a lot of what worked for it. This sounds like it’s going to be one of the Disney Plus outings that actually makes the most of the fact that it’s a TV series (rather than a multi-part film), which will no doubt serve it very well.

It is also important to remember that Agatha – All the time is nine episodes long, so there’s a good chance the episode runtime will increase as the finale approaches.

The spooky series will debut on Disney Plus with a special two-episode premiere on Wednesday, September 18 at 9 p.m. ET (6 p.m. PT).
