Former President Donald Trump said he was “absolutely” ready to add Elon Musk However, he believes Musk will serve more as an advisor to his cabinet.

Trump joined Michael B. To The Shawn Ryan Show and during a discussion about AI, Ryan mentioned that Musk had expressed his willingness to participate in a possible second Trump term.

“Elon and I have a great relationship. He’s great. He’s a totally unusual character,” Trump said.

The former president said Musk wanted to help “curb government spending” and called the Twitter owner one of the few “geniuses.”

“What he really wants to do is work to get some of the ballast off the ground. He knows how to do it and he loves the country,” he said.

Trump added that Musk could work in AI, but said Musk is likely too busy with his companies to take on a cabinet post and would likely “be in an advisory capacity” instead.

“He wants to get involved. But look, he runs big companies and stuff, so I don’t think he would really be for the Cabinet,” he said. “I would definitely get him in the Cabinet, but I don’t know how he could do that with all the things he has going on. But he can, as they say, consult the country and give you some very good ideas.”

Musk supports Trump for president and supports a super PAC that supports him. Earlier this month, Musk told podcaster Lex Fridman that he and Trump had discussed establishing a “Commission on Government Efficiency.”

“I have discussed with Trump the idea of ​​a commission on government efficiency. And I would be willing to be part of that commission,” he said.
