STILL ROCKING: Dance to the inspired sounds of the Joey D and Johnny B Rockin’ Oldies Band.

The Ship Bottom Volunteer Fire Department is hosting an Oldies Night Dance Party on Friday, September 6th from 6-10 p.m. at the firehouse.

The Joey D and Johnny B Rockin’ Oldies Band provides live entertainment.

According to event coordinator Mike D’Antonio, admission is $15 and includes one alcoholic beverage. Beer and wine are available for purchase and attendees are also welcome to bring their own snacks from home.

D’Antonio, fire department captain and chairman of the raffle and fundraiser, said the proceeds will be used for various company expenses.

John Bishop, “Johnny B,” said when the band was formed, it focused on the favorites of the doo-wop era made popular by Dion and the Belmonts, the Drifters, the Duprees, the Five Satins, the Crests and the Del-Vikings, to name a few.

“But we’ve expanded our offerings to include Motown classics like Spinners, Temptations, Chi-Lites, Stylistics and Earth Wind and Fire,” he said. “There are also some disco hits from groups like KC and the Sunshine Band and the Trammps. It’s music that people like to dance to. That’s what we’re all about: having fun.”

They even have their own song: “Take It Home”.
