Baldwin County High School Tigerettes qualify for state championships and shine at Universal Dance Camp

The Baldwin County High School Tigerettes danced their way to the top after their performance at the University of Southern Mississippi’s Universal Dance Camp, qualifying for the state championships, according to a press release.

The Tigerettes secured an outstanding rating and took top honors in individual ratings, earning all outstanding blue ribbons. They also claimed the Drill Down Team title and collected numerous Drill Down gold ribbons, underscoring their dominance in the competition.

In the individual drill down performances, Madeline Hartley emerged as Drill Down Princess, while Shelby Stewart took home the title of second place.

Seven members of the Tigerettes were named All-American Dancers, including Cale Jones, Abbi Paul, Emma-Claire Simpson, Addison Scarborough, Madeline Hartley, Eleesia Emmons and Hayden Drew. The team also placed second in the Varsity Home Routine competition.

In addition to their awards, the Tigerettes won a Spirit Stick each day of camp and also received two Pin It Forward recognitions, an award for acts of kindness, given to Cale Jones and Emma-Claire Simpson.

The Junior Varsity Team also performed strongly at camp, receiving a Superior rating and all of the Superior and Outstanding Performance awards in individual evaluations. Kaydence Scott and Paxtan Bazzel were both selected as All-American Dancers. The JV team was recognized as the Most Improved Team, A’alayia McClain received a Pin It Forward award and, like her Varsity counterparts, was able to take home a Spirit Stick each day.

Coach Elizabeth Byrd praised the teams for their hard work and dedication. “Both teams were exceptional representatives of our program,” Byrd said in the press release. “They worked so hard. They are both artists and true athletes. It’s going to be a fantastic football season.”
