The fast food war has begun! Burger King is now launching a $5 menu

Burger King is launching its own $5 meal deal before rival McDonald’s can.

It is the latest development in the US fast-food war, in which the major chains are fighting for customers despite high inflation and the cost of living.

“We are bringing back our $5 ‘Your Way Meal’ as we agreed with our franchisees in April,” a Burger King spokesperson told Reuters.

The Burger King menu includes a choice of three sandwiches with nuggets, fries and a drink, according to a Bloomberg report.

The news service reported that the Burger King deal would start before the McDonald’s offer and would last several months.

According to reports, the McDonald’s campaign will only last four weeks.

Your meal could include a McChicken or a McDouble, plus fries and a drink, a source said BloombergThe Coca-Cola Company has also offered to provide financing to complete the deal.

Wendy’s announced its own $3 breakfast offer last week.

More Americans are choosing to eat at home as high inflation directly affects fast food prices. A regular McDonald’s Quarter Pounder with cheese now costs an estimated $11.99, according to the personal finance website, up from $5.39 ten years ago. FinanceBuzz.

McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski said in a recent quarterly earnings call that the company needs to “clearly focus on affordability.”

However, the company is likely to have considerable difficulty convincing US franchisees to introduce the offer. Earlier this year, 95 percent of franchisees rejected the $5 menu offer for fear of further revenue losses.

This was particularly a problem for McDonald’s stores in California, where a new law requires fast-food workers to earn at least $20 an hour.

After this law went into effect in April, fast-food restaurants across the state raised their prices.
