NFL Pro Era moves to live services for 2025 edition, adds defense

StatusPro’s NFL Pro Era will launch as a live service offering for the upcoming 2025 edition of the VR game.

The new version of NFL Pro Era is an immersive first-person simulation that uses VR technology to give users the perspective of a professional football player. It will add the linebacker position to the gameplay, allowing players to pressure the quarterback, score sacks, make tackles and interceptions.

NFL Pro Era 2025 is priced at $19.99 for users who own any of the first two versions of the game and $39.99 for new players, up from the price of the latest edition of the game, which costs $14.99.

No specific release date has been set for the title, but StatusPro confirms that NFL Pro Era 2025 will be available on Meta Quest during the 2024 NFL season this fall.

The game will include a single-player mode for defense, updated rosters, team t-shirts, cosmetics and more, and an updated multiplayer experience with head-to-head offense versus defense will be available in late winter. At launch, there will be an update for current owners of the NFL Pro Era game that will give them access to customization and full access to all free game modes and minigames.

Additional content packs will be available throughout the season for $4.99.

According to StatusPro, NFL Pro Era 2025 will take gameplay to a new level with “smarter AI teammates and opponents, an entirely new way to play defense, and the ability for users to personalize the game and immerse themselves deeper with players through new customizations like custom gear, stadiums, and hairstyles,” as well as “improved team and player playstyles that closely align with today’s formations.”

“‘NFL Pro Era’ will be a faster, more user-friendly game,” says StatusPro. “By eliminating the sidelines and introducing a new UI and wristband controls, users will experience smoother gameplay and more intuitive controls. Other features of the game include real-time feedback from your teammates as they react to you and your quarterback leadership on and off the field, as well as increased intensity and audio based on different game scenarios.”

“We want to offer our loyal fans and players something new and revolutionary in our next version of ‘NFL Pro Era.’ By adding defense to the game, we want to offer something unique to the VR gaming world,” said Victor Lugo, Chief Product Officer of StatusPro. “It was important that users feel like true leaders of their team on both sides of the ball. As one of the first VR games to feature a realistic defense experience, we made sure fans had the true feeling of being the anchor of the defense when they were on the field.”

In addition, game maker StatusPro announced that the cover stars for 2025 “NFL Pro Era” are Houston Texans Offensive Rookie of the Year quarterback CJ Stroud and two-time First-Team All-Pro and Dallas Cowboys star linebacker Micah Parsons.

Stroud added, “It’s an honor to be one of the featured athletes of an incredible game that resembles the real-life quarterback game. I love what the team at StatusPro is doing and when we started talking, I knew I wanted to be a part of ‘NFL Pro Era’ and their vision to be the best VR game.”

“I’m an avid gamer, especially VR games and football, so being the cover athlete and playing a key role in ‘NFL Pro Era’ is a great experience,” said Parsons. “When I spoke with the StatusPro team and they wanted to add a defense to the new version of the game, I knew I wanted to work with them and was thrilled when they wanted me to be a featured athlete.”
