October 26, 2015. Calgary, Alberta. Lee Antoni, husband of 31-year-old Amanda Antoni, returns home from a weekend getaway to discover Amanda’s body in a pool of blood in the basement of the house. Two days earlier, a phone call between Amanda and Lee was abruptly terminated and, since her broken cell phone was found on the floor, police initially believe Amanda was attacked and her death was a homicide. However, after no serious suspects or forensic evidence point to a stranger, investigators consider the possibility that Amanda actually suffered a fatal fall down the stairs. Was Amanda Antoni the victim of a crime or was her death nothing more than a tragic accident? In this week’s episode of “The Trail Went Cold,” we examine a Canadian case that was recently featured on the reboot of “Unsolved Mysteries.”
