Marathi filmmaker Swapna Waghmare Joshi recently had a frightening encounter that was recorded by her home’s CCTV camera. The footage shows a thief entering her 6th floor apartment in Mumbai through an open window. The intruder was quickly chased away after the family pet raised the alarm, alerting the family to his presence.

“We present real crime sleuthing. This video is for all of us, especially senior citizens living alone. You will be surprised to see a thief climb into the 6th floor of noted filmmaker Swapna Waghmare Joshi’s residence in Lokhandwala Complex, Andheri West, Mumbai using pipes and jump out the same way when he is spotted by a household member. These days, the security guards are either busy looking at their phones or sleeping. Share this video as much as you can,” wrote filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, Joshi’s friend, while sharing the video.

The video shows the thief entering the house through an open window, searching for valuables and taking the director’s daughter’s handbag, which allegedly contains Rs 6,000. The clip also shows the thief jumping out of the window to escape after being spotted thanks to the family pet. Joshi later filed a complaint with the Amboli police.

The video was viewed over 140,000 times and received nearly 1,000 likes, sparking mixed reactions online, with many expressing surprise at the incident.
