Four Winds Field hosts the final Paws and Claws night of the season

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – Many headed to Four Winds Field Tuesday night for one of the final home games of the season.

WNDU 16 News Now wasn’t there for the crowds, or the sound the ball made as players launched it into the stratosphere.

No, we were there because of the dogs.

It was a hot summer night at Four Winds Field, but the loyal South Bend Cubs fans showed up in force to mark the end of this season.

In fact, we noticed something different right at the ticket counter. Quite a few dogs had come to the game.

Tuesdays are Paws and Claws night at Four Winds Field, which suits Anthony Graham, who explained that his girl goes everywhere with him.

“She doesn’t like being home alone,” Anthony said. “She gets lonely. She wants to go everywhere with me. So she goes to work so she can get to the ballpark. So that’s great.”

Falkor, the son of Cori and Danny Wright, was playing his first ball game. When he heard the word “ball,” he was immediately involved.

“He’s very affectionate. He loves attention,” Cori said. “Sometimes he gets a little overwhelmed by everything that’s going on. But his favorite thing in the world is a squeaky tennis ball.”

Jack Miller’s Great Dane Luna is something of a fixture at Four Winds Field.

“She just thinks she’s special when she comes here and walks around like she owns the place,” Jack joked. “We’ve been coming here for several years. She likes free hot dogs.”

And even though some would say it “poured rain” at the end, it was still a great night at the baseball stadium.
