Insurance companies may not be climate activists, but they know more about climate risk than anyone else. And as storms become more extreme and unpredictable, many insurers are crunching the numbers for Florida and finding that the math just doesn’t work anymore. For decades, cheap insurance helped mask the risks of living in some of the riskiest parts of the country. But now a climate correction is underway. Prices are skyrocketing. And on America’s riskiest peninsula, residents are starting to feel climate change where it hurts – in their bank accounts.
