Seth Quintero makes his debut in the Crandon World Cup

Seth Quintero will be driving a slightly different off-road truck than his Toyota Hilux this weekend when he drives the No. 17 Pro 2 truck at Crandon International Off-Road Race TrackIt is his first competition in the Red Bull Crandon World Cup‘s Pro 2 vs. Pro 4 race.

Short-distance racing is a completely different discipline to the endurance racing he is used to in the World Rally-Raid Championship and Best In The Desert. His day job is even more demanding, as he drives for Toyota Gazoo Racing in W2RC and currently lies eighth in the standings with one round remaining.

The Red Bull Scramble, which is the closest to the short course he has competed in, will be driven in a side-by-side vehicle rather than a truck. He has starred in rally raids in SSVs, won 12 stages at the 2022 Dakar Rally and won the Challenger class world championship in 2023. Quintero moved up to the premier Ultimate class for the 2024 season in a Toyota GR DKR Hilux EVO T1U.

The start comes during a four-month break in the World Rally Raid Championship: the final round in Argentina will take place in June, while the Rally du Maroc, the last race of the season, will not take place until October 5-11.

Quinteros Pro 2 is prepared by a fellow Red Bull athlete Andrew Carlsonwho drives in Pro 4.

Although there are no points races at the Red Bull World Cup, he will also be Cross-country championship Points rounds on Saturday and Sunday. The World Cup takes place directly after. Due to its status as a top short-distance race today, the World Cup often attracts special guests, such as Brian Deeganwho confirmed his entry on Tuesday.

Although short course and rally raid are such different styles of racing, Quintero is not the only driver who has competed in both. Brock Heger was a short course champion who will compete in the 2025 Dakar Rally, while Casey Currie won the 2020 Dakar Rally in the UTV class, a year after winning the Crandon World Cup in Ultra4; Curt LeDuc, a 1985 and 1998 world champion, also has Dakar experience.
