The Women’s T20 World Cup, originally scheduled to be held in Bangladesh, was moved out of the country by the ICC after many players raised security concerns due to the prevailing political unrest.

Ten teams will play 23 matches over 18 action-packed days at two venues in the UAE, the Dubai International Cricket Stadium and the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Group A includes six-time champions Australia, along with India, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, while Group B includes Bangladesh, England, South Africa, West Indies and Scotland. Each team will compete in four group matches, which will be played at both venues.

Bangladesh will face Scotland in the opening match of the event in Sharjah, followed by Pakistan’s match against Asia Cup winners Sri Lanka. 2023 runners-up South Africa will play their opening match of the T20 World Cup against West Indies in Dubai on October 4.

Defending champions and the most successful team in T20 World Cup history, Australia, will kick off their campaign against Sri Lanka in Sharjah on October 5, while the much-awaited match between India and Pakistan will take place in Dubai on October 6.

The top two teams from each group will play the second placed team from the other group. Semi-final 1 will be played in Dubai on October 17 and Semi-final 2 will be played in Sharjah on October 18. If India advances, they will play in Semi-final 1. A reserve day has been set for the semi-finals and the final.

The winners of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will be crowned on October 20 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Scotland and Sri Lanka qualified for the event via the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier, which was held in Abu Dhabi earlier this year.

Ten warm-up matches, which will take place from September 28 to October 1 at the Sevens Stadium and the ICC Academy grounds in Dubai, will ensure excitement.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) retains its hosting rights but will work with the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) to ensure the successful conduct of the event.
