First Alert Weather: 90 degree temperatures will not last

ROCHESTER, NY — The weather in western New York state was the hottest in three weeks on Tuesday, with temperatures reaching nearly 90 degrees in most communities. The mid-summer temperatures won’t last, however, as a cold front approaches Rochester in the next 24 hours.

This front is expected to bring some showers and thunderstorms overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday. However, as this front moves across the area, humidity and temperature will drop significantly. The high temperature on Wednesday is expected to be about 15 degrees lower.

On Tuesday evening, dry weather is expected in the early evening, with showers and thunderstorms becoming more likely after 11 p.m., with some gusty gales possible. High humidity with a low of around 20 degrees. On Wednesday, there will be another shower or thunderstorm in the morning, then it will be mostly cloudy in the afternoon. It will be noticeably cooler and drier, with a high of around 24 degrees. On Thursday, there will be more sunshine and pleasant weather with a high of around 24 degrees.

The holiday weekend will see some showers and thunderstorms on Saturday, with mostly dry weather on Sunday. Temperatures are expected to be around 27 degrees on both days. Labor Day is expected to be dry but much cooler, perhaps with a hint of fall, as temperatures will be around 15 degrees for most of the day.
