The last ride of Bingo’s D&S Saddle Shop after nearly 100 years in Southern Colorado

COLORADO SPRINGS – After nearly 100 years of serving the Pikes Peak region, Bingo’s D&S Saddle Shop made its final ride Tuesday.

The Saddle Shop in Colorado Springs sells tack, saddles, clothing and grooming products. It began as a small downtown harness shop in the late 1920s.

Obstacles such as online competition, a shrinking horse community and rising rents have forced the owners to close the stable doors. They say they will miss the friends they made there.

“The saddest thing is the customers. We’re going to miss them,” said Diane Hanchey of Bingo’s D&S Saddle Shop. “The horse community in the (Colorado) Springs area is incredible.”

“It was a wonderful, wonderful store,” said Sandra Besseghini, a customer. “The store we really relied on. I’m so sorry to see it close.”

Ironically, one of the owners told our news partners at The Gazette that she is considering selling the store’s remaining inventory online.
